What are the best ways to advertise a local (Canadian) website ?

Hi everyone,

I have recently launched a site http://iHateBadService.ca, it is an open community for unsatisfied consumers to anonymously share their stories in bad services.

Can anyone share their experience in promoting your site locally ? From what I observe, facebook, local forum and distributing flyers locally may give a better result in using Google Adwords.

Is there any other channels you can suggest ?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Harry

Maybe you could get in touch with the consumer institute (if you have one in canada) and ask if you could include a link on their website, or if they could mention your site. Just a thought, might not work if it's govt but if it did it would increase your hits drastically.

Likewise you could get in touch with the tourism board or the people that put together those 'where to go' pamphlets and ask if they could include your site. You'd be suprised how receptive people can be to a good idea that doesn't really cost them.

Your topics may go down pretty well on social bookmarking sites like digg etc.
