Best way to build a classifieds website?

I am interested in building a classifieds website. For local business to be able to register, post their ads for free, and I approve them before they go live. (similar to Nawlist.com.or craigslist)

In return when the website gets traffic and such I'd put adsense in it…

Whats the best hosting service/program to use that easy to use for someone with basic programing knowledge.

Hi there,

I like http://www.hostgator.com too. They offer good support, and nice sized packages for a reasonable price.

There are tons of classified scripts already written that are easily customizable, will do what you are wanting and more. Your best bet would be to Google "classified scripts" and check at places like http://www.hotscripts.com

Select a few that sound interesting and then compare them to see which offers the features you are most interested in having. Personally, I would look for one that you had the option of free or paid ads, that way you could offer featured ads that would be at the top, formated differently to stand out or whatever.. it would give you the option to charge for some of those ads should you decide to do so.

Good luck with it!
