i just started a small business and want to advertise my business online for free and have it actually SHOW UP on a search engine like GOOGLE.

Is your business an online business & can people buy from you who are not in your local area? If not, why advertise online? You need to concentrate on marketing locally if your customers are local. Free ads sites aren't worth what you pay for them – the competition is too great. You'll need to pay for quality customers one way or another.
Find someone in your local area who has the customers you want. Have him/her recommend your business & give them a piece of the sale if any of his customers buy from you from his recommendation. That's called a joint venture, BTW & it's one of the quickest ways to get new customers without any cash upfront. You only pay when a sale is made.
